The gas recovered in the CFC process comprises around 12 percent of total raw material recovered by the process.
The gas generates energy equivalent to 1,600 kWh per ton of waste tyres, making the plant largely self-sufficient. A certain amount of external energy is required for post-processing of the starting materials, i.e. the carbon black, steel and oil generated in the process. Power consumption is greatest during the drying of carbon pellets.
The core component of the CFC process, is however, energy-neutral.
