Mixed plastics (i.e. car plastics, household waste) Mixed plastics is difficult to recycle since it contains many different types of plastic. In most cases it needs to be hand-separated and this is a costly and worker-intensive process. This is why most of the plastics is separated in eg. China where the working cost is minimal. Solution: By utilizing the CFC-technology it is possible to treat mixed plastics and produce oil, gas and solid material. All products has a high market value. Electronics waste
There are a lot of valuable metals in electronics waste such as gold, silver, copper and patina. It is difficult to remove these metals since they are mixed with glass fiber, flame retardants, ceramics and plastics. Solution: In the CFC-process, the plastics and flame retardant are removed and converted to oil and gas and the solid substance contains the valuable metal, glass fiber and carbon. Metal is then easily separated from, glass fiber and carbon in SES’ post-treatment process. Organic residue / biomass (i.e. wood, forest slash, wood chips, straw)This kind of material is, in our process, turned into bio-oil and bio-gas for fuel production as well as bio-char. Bio-char may be one solution to solve the growing CO2-problem according to many speculators. 1 kg carbon binds 3,7 kg CO2 from the atmosphere. Chicken manure Chicken manure is a good soil fertilizer when used in proper amounts. In many places the amount is too much and it actually destroys the soil. Chicken manure is today one of the largest contributor to over-fertilizing of seas and water streams in many locations (eg. The Baltic Sea). Solution: By pyrolysis, the chicken manure is turned to bio-oil, bio-gas and bio-char. In this case, the bio-char is an extraordinary soil improvement since it keeps the moisture in the ground and conserves minerals. The nutrition is kept in the ground and slowly released to plants without being washed away by rainfall. High risk residue (i.e. Medical waste) Medical waste contains the material from hospitals that is of health risk. This material needs special care and is difficult to recycle by today’s methods and therefore most of this material is burned. Solution: In the future we can see that much of this waste will be treated with pyrolysis and that is why the CFC-process is very applicable for this task. Auto fluff / ASR (Automotive Shredded Residuals) This is the remains after metal separation of shredded cars, kitchen appliance etc. and consists of mainly plastics, fabrics and some metallic components. This material is today burned or landfilled because of difficulties of material recycling. Solution: The CFC-process makes it easy to material recycle the fluff. The material that contains volatile organic compounds is turned to oil and gas and the rest is then easily separated in SES’ post-treatment process.
